CROWN Machine uwp, Inc. bi-axial orientation polystyrene systems
Bi-axial Orientation Polystyrene Systems (BOPS)

CROWN Machine uwp, Inc. is a leading supplier of biaxial orientation equipment. We design and manufacture sequential, fast-stretch and transverse biaxial orientation machines to process a broad range of materials that includes, but it not limited to:

  • Polypropylene
  • Polyoxymethylene
  • Fluoropolymers such as polyvinylidene flouoride and PTFE
  • HDPE
  • Blends of Polyphenylene oxide and many more

CROWN Machine Directional Orientation Unit (MDO)

CROWN MDO equipment is designed and built to increase production in today's growing competitive marketplace

  • Pressurized plastic melt flows through a sheet die and is cast onto the CROWN MDO
  • Cast thickness may vary from 0.020 to 0.200
  • Built for continuous 24-hour production, and available in various standard and custom sizes to meet specific job requirements

CROWN Transverse Directional Orientation Unit (TDO)

To further enhance the quality of the plastic film or sheet, CROWN Machine designs a co-extrusion biaxial system with capability of up to 9-layer construction, which will produce stronger, thinner film with barrier properties if required

How it works

Film passes through the CROWN MDO and enters the CROWN TDO, where is stretched. This forces the molecular structure to line up so that the film is strengthen in both tensile and impact. During the CROWN TDO tentering frame process, the polymer chains are aligned perpendiculary to the MDO axis. Medium or heavy-duty center pull clips grip the sheet on either side and convey it through an IR oven as the sheet stretches.

Features:
  • Heavy-duty clips withstand up to 300 PL
  • Infrared ovens are constructed of tubular steel with multiple cross support beams to allow maximum heating and cooling control
  • Temperature is carefully regulated with a traversing scanner mounted midway through the transition section
  • Infrared sensors monitor thermal radiation at the transition section
  • Oven lengths vary from 35-45 feet
  • Ovens may be customized to meet specific requirements

Computer Line Control

The command center for the CROWN Machine biaxial orientation lines is a unique, automated process control unit. These features allow for the most effective, total control of your CROWN Machine biaxial orientation line

  • Alarm processing and detection
  • Color graphic interface centers for report trending
  • Historian fail over control
  • MODBUS sub systems

Special Features of the CROWN MDO/TDO
  • Custom-designed, full electronic monitoring for more accurate material specifications, which includes everything from temperature control and line speed to the surface finish of the rolls
  • Most film manufacturers select nine operating speeds from 30 to 400 FPM. CROWN Machine stretchers are designed for 750 FPM, which means all the safety you need already exists in the standard design
  • All machines are built for continuous 24-hour operation
